Ancelotti: I'll stay at Real Madrid until 2024, unless they sack me

The World Cup is over and club football is back in full swing. Real Madrid still have to wait a few days to play their first official match, which will be in LaLiga Santander against Real Valladolid on December 29.

Los Blancos have been training for a few days now, with their coach Carlo Ancelotti at the helm.

The Italian has spoken on a radio station in his homeland, Rai Radio 1, on the programme ‘Radio Anch’io Sport’, and there he made clear his commitment to Real Madrid.

He has been heavily linked with the vacant Brazil national team job in the last week or so, but he seems to have no intention of leaving Real Madrid, at least until the expiry of his contract in 2024.

Ancelotti plans to stay at Real Madrid

“I don’t know what the future holds for me, I live day by day,” Ancelotti told the Rai Radio 1 show.

“For the moment, I’m happy in Madrid, we have a lot of objectives for this season.

“There will be time to think about my future. I have a contract until June 30, 2024, and, if Real Madrid don’t sack me before then, I’m not going to move.”

Ancelotti’s thoughts on the World Cup

He also reviewed the World Cup that has just finished and highlighted the great final between Argentina and France.

“It was a great tournament and it ended with a beautiful final,” the coach said.

Argentina deserved to win and did so for two reasons: because they have good players and the best, and because they backed up this quality with newcomers like Julian Alvarez and Enzo Fernandez.”

“[Lionel Scaloni] did an extraordinary job, even if he didn’t do anything new.

“He just put the players in place and gave them a good defensive organisation.”
