Since January 9, Gareth Bale is no longer a professional football player. At only 33 years old and in good physical health, the Welsh international (111 caps) has decided to end his career after a few months freelance in MLS and the Los Angeles FC franchise. Revealed at Tottenham, the left-hander joined Real Madrid in 2013 where he won five Champions Leagues. In a long interview for the TimesBale looked back on his years in Madrid and more particularly his relationships with Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane.
“I never had a single problem with anyone”
When addressing the question about his former partner CR7, the Welshman replies: “The teammates all helped me. I know people talk about my relationship with Ronaldo, but I’ve never had a single problem with anyone. I don’t think I’ve ever had a fight with anyone. Honestly, I enjoyed my time there a lot”. The Cardiff native went on to talk about his relationship with his former manager, Zidane: “We never had a fight, no heated conversation. There were never any behavioral problems, I would rather say that we disagreed on some things, but obviously he did a great job at Madrid and he won three Champions Leagues.. It was Zidane who took Bale out of the starting XI…
