Peyton and Eli Manning led an experiment during the 2021 NFL season to offer a different type of TV broadcast. The pair of charismatic Super Bowl winning brothers would offer an alternative to the traditional two-man booth narration of Troy Aikman and Joe Buck. And it has turned out to be a success.
The proof, besides Manningcast’s improvement in ratings (which had an increase of 86% from their season debut in 2021 on ESPN2), is how much people missed it online.
The last few weeks were notable as well, with the appearance of special guests like Eagles QB Jalen Hurts and NBA superstar Steph Curry.
Fans were sad to watch Monday Night Football without the Mannings
Fans tuned into ESPN2 to watch the Mannings’ take on the popular Raiders at Chiefs matchup. However, they were disappointed to see standard programming and no sight of Peyton or Eli.
The reason? The Mannings are only contracted to 10 Monday Night Football games (9 regular season and one Wild Card playoff game).
Sadly for the fans that made Manningcast a trending topic during the game, the former quarterbacks will take another break and won’t be back till the Week 7 showdown between the Bears and Patriots (October 24th).
