LeBron James offers another glimpse into his thoughts of retirement

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James hinted at possibly retiring after getting swept by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference finals of the 2023 NBA Playoffs earlier this month and is once again giving fans a glimpse into his offseason thoughts.

James, 38, took to social media on Monday to drop another cryptic message regarding his NBA future, responding to a comment asking what it means to be “him.”

“I’m supposed to be no. 1 on everybody’s list,” James wrote. “We’ll see what happens when I no longer exist.”

James has felt disrespected by the overall narrative in the NBA community for the past few years, constantly saying to put respect on his name.

He just finished his 20th NBA season and did so as the all-time league leader in points.

LeBron James’ retirement comments

A recent report claims James will return to Los Angeles next season, but he has yet to confirm any decision.

His postgame press conference comments after Game 4 against Denver were more than enough to make fans of the Purple & Gold worry.

“It’s not fun to not be able to get to the finals,” James said. “We’ll see what happens down the road. I don’t know. I got a lot to think about, to be honest. Just with me, personally moving forward with the game of basketball, I got a lot to think about.”

James reportedly played the 2023 NBA Playoffs with a torn foot tendon and could require surgery this summer.
