Parents coming to blows while watching their children play sports is becoming more and more prevalent and increasingly problematic in the US. Tuesday’s soccer match, that was disputed between Union and Ridgeview High school, witnessed a huge brawl in the stands, triggered by hot-headed and perhaps overly protective parents who a desperate to see their darlings triumph on the pitch.
Video footage published by Twitter page ‘Fight Haven’ shows how the red mist descended during the high school soccer game after a verbal dispute turned violent and resulted in one of the biggest stand showdowns seen in high school soccer– It could quite easily have been confused with one of WWE’s Royal Rumbles.
According to theTwitter account that specializes in publishing some of the most spectacular fights captured on camera, it all started because parents of Ridgeview High began ‘hurling racial slurs’ at the home team’s parents. All hell broke loose after home fans said enough was enough and decided to resolve the verbals with violence.
The local Virginia sheriff has since revealed that there were several injuries after the nasty altercation and that one person, Donald Guerrant, was arrested and subsequently charged with assault and battery.
Parents should be setting an example, not behaving like squabbling teenagers! Red card for all involved.
