Paris Saint-Germain are going through a difficult period. The team suffered another setback after losing at the Parc des Princes 3-1 to Lorient.
It was the sixth defeat of the season in Ligue 1 and the third in the last four home games. Knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich after being eliminated from the Coupe de France by Marseille, PSG are now struggling in domestic competition too.
Despite being used to dominating in the French League, PSG need to make sure that they put themselves together in this final stretch of the season.
They are five points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table with five games to go, as their loss to Lorient allowed second-placed Marseille to close the gap on PSG. Third-placed Lens are nine points behind, but they have a game in hand.

Two ambitious title contenders
After the loss to Lorient, PSG coach Christophe Galtier demanded that his players react in order to clinch the Ligue 1 title.
“It’s another defeat that doesn’t come at the right moment. When you make that start, you can’t expect anything else. We were absent for 20 minutes,” he said.
“Marseille and Lens are going full steam ahead in the second half of the season. We need a collective conscience, but above all an individual one.
“We have too many players who play below their level. We must do more when we have the ambition to be champions and to be champions quickly.
“We have to talk about it, ask ourselves what we want to do in the next five games, to be champions or not. There is a title to go for. We have been top since day one. But we must have do more to get this title.”
It won’t be easy for PSG, as Marseille star Alexis Sanchez believes that his team could snatch the trophy.
“We are five points behind PSG, it’s a motivation, and on a personal level I also like to be close to the leaders,” he noted.
“You have to believe in the title, I believe in it. You have to have hope and stay united as a team.”
Campos calls for reaction and unity
Meanwhile, PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos has called for unity ahead of this crucial last stretch of the 2022/23 campaign.
“We need the fans, the players, the coach and all the staff to finish the season well,” he told Canal+.
“We did a difficult job in a difficult year. We are all together to get this title. I demand a reaction from everyone. It’s time to say that the club must be united.
“It’s difficult to lose like that, we have to react quickly. We must not lose our heads and continue our work to win this title”.
PSG‘s schedule might be easy, but the players need to find the motivation to play and win the last five matches.
